Greek tax return (E1)

File your annual Greek declaration correctly, including foreign income.

Overview

Greek income tax returns are filed online through the myAADE platform, with the E1 as the main personal form and the filing window running through the first half of the year (the deadline is set annually and has been extended in recent years). If you are a Greek tax resident the return covers your worldwide income, which is where most newcomers need help: foreign salary, pensions, rental income and investments have to be reported and any double-tax treaty relief claimed correctly.

Who it's for

Residents with income of any kind, property owners, and anyone who became a Greek tax resident during the year.

What's included

  • Assessment of whether you file as a resident or non-resident
  • Preparation and submission of the E1 and related forms
  • Reporting of foreign income and double-tax treaty relief
  • Explanation of the assessment and how to pay it

How it works

  1. 1

    Establish your status

We work out whether you file as a Greek tax resident and what that pulls into scope.

  2. 2

    Gather income and reliefs

Greek and foreign income, withholding already paid and any treaty relief are collected.

  3. 3

    File and explain

The return is submitted through myAADE and we walk you through the resulting assessment.

Common questions

Often yes. The obligation follows your tax status and circumstances rather than whether the income is Greek — a resident with only foreign income generally still files. Getting this wrong is a common and avoidable problem.

It is set each year and typically falls in midsummer; in recent years it has been extended beyond the originally announced date. We work to the announced deadline rather than assuming an extension.

No — an AFM is just a tax number, and non-residents hold them too. Tax residency turns on where you actually live and your ties, which is exactly what we assess before filing.
